Five Element Acupuncture

ABOUT TY ROMIJN
Ty Romijn has come to Tai Chi, Bodywork and Acupunture through his own Healing Process.

Ty was born and raised on the east coast of the United States of America. He wrestled from the age of 12 through two years of college and assistant coached for two years in Steamboat Springs, CO. During his wrestling career Ty enjoyed much success, but not without many injuries. During Ty's stint coaching in Steamboat Springs, he had a sudden epiphany, while wrestling one of the students. He realized, that he could use his gifts as a wrestler to facilitate healing. He began to recognize that the discipline and focus needed to excel in wrestling, were a foundation for things spiritual. He could apply those same gifts towards, meditation and healing.

Ty came upon T'ai Chi, while volunteering at an orphanage in Guatemala during the summer of 1993. Ty's health was challenged from travelling. A man was travelling through and showed Ty a few T'ai Chi movements. Ty had found one of his paths towards healing. When he arrived back in the states, he sought out a T'ai Chi  Ch'uan instructor. He found a man named Tom Hubbell, in Steamboat Springs, CO. Tom taught Tung Family Yang Style T'ai Chi Ch'uan as taught by third generation T'ai Chi Ch'uan master, Tung Kai Ying . Through intensive study over a year period, Ty's energy slowly came back. He became interested in the energy meridians of the body, and had a vision of becoming an Acupuncturist, and supporting others in their healing processes.

Then in the Autumn of 1994 , he attended Crestone Healing Arts Center in Crestone, Colorado, where he studied Qi Kung Massage. He went on to study at the Heartwood Institute in Garberville, CA. He studied many forms of oriental /eastern massage modalities, including Polarity Therapy, Zen Shiatzu Acupressure, Jin Shin Do, Skilled Touch for the Seriously Ill and Seated Massage. After practicing for a couple years, he went on to study Five Element Acupuncture. First, as an apprentice with Lois Barnett, LAc. in Port Townsend, WA in 1996, then in 1998, he went on to attend the Institute of Taoist Education and Acupuncture in Louisville , CO. During his Acupuncture studies he came upon a system of bodywork, which works with both energy and structure, Zero Balancing. Again he knew this would be, yet another one of his paths to healing himself and facilitating others healing as well. He went through the process to become certified as a Zero Balancer(2000).  Zero Balancing offered him a modality, through which he could allow all of his trainings to come through one simple and clear protocal. He felt a homecoming. Working with Five Element acupuncture first, then doing ZB to integrate the shifts that the needles initiated, Ty found a way to very efficiently support other's healing processes. Ty graduated from ITEA in 2003. He became a licensed Acupuncturist in the fall of 2003.

He now has apractice in Boulder/Lafayette, CO as a Licensed Acupuncturist and a certified Zero Balancer. Ty also teaches T'ai Chi Ch'uan in Middletown, RI, and Boulder, CO.
